Validation and implementation of Hepatitis B viral load on polyvalent open PCR platforms in West African and South East Asian countries

A study of the AC12 working group (ANRS 12327). The generic HBV viral load assay was based on an in-house PCR assay previously developed by the U1058 unit and evaluated using different HBV genotypes and PCR formats previously published (Kania D et al, J Virol Methods 2014; Castera J et al, J Virol Methods 2017).

Hepatitis Delta virus: validation and implementation in Central Africa of a generic RNA quantification assay and prevalence data (ANRS 12366, E Gordien is the PI, Delta NRC)

The objective of the study is to validate and implement in France, Cameroun and Republic of Central Africa a powerful generic PCR for quantification of HDV RNA viral load, using a “one-step” real-time RT-PCR on the available opened and polyvalent molecular biology platforms. The PCR have been developed in the U1058 unit in collaboration with Omunis companies and the National Reference Centre (NRC) for hepatitis Delta (Castera J. et al, ISHEID 2016).

Chantal FOURNIER-WIRTH obtained a PhD Degree in Life Sciences, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Montpellier (France) in 1999. She started her career as a researcher at the EFS (Etablissement Français du Sang) in the team directed by Dr Joliette Coste in Montpellier. The team has merged with clinicians in 2015 in a mixed research unit dedicated to the pathogenesis and control of chronic infections. She is now involved in the development and the coordination of multidisciplinary projects on diagnostic innovations.
