The UMR 1058 is involved in the HARP project (granted by the EC 7th Framework Program) in collaboration with London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK), the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa) and the University of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). The aim of the HARP project is to evaluate various approaches for the prevention of cervical cancer in African women infected with HIV-1 with study of prevalence, incidence, persistence of HIV infection and distribution of HPV types, evaluation of the diagnostic value of the different screening tests (HPV DNA test, cytology, VIA/VILI and colposcopy) and the usefulness of triage tests such as DNA methylation, HPV viral load and integration status, and an economic evaluation of the cost-benefit ratio of the different approaches.

The HPV team of the UMR1058 is also involved in the Evolproof project (granted by ERC) in collaboration with the UMR IRD224-CNRS5290 and the University Hospital of Montpellier with the aim of characterize within-host dynamics of early HPV infections in young women.
